Why I wrapped up my CEO newsletter

My newsletter has been good to me. It’s helped me connect with folks in a way—frequently and with value—that would not have otherwise been possible. And I’ve received lots of great feedback from readers that testify it’s been good for them.

But I’ve decided to end the newsletter, at least in its current form. Two reasons …

The world has changed in the 5 years I’ve been publishing, and the newsletter medium has lost its sheen for me. I’ve cut my own intake down to a minimum and now curate that with a sharp eye. If an email pops into my inbox and there’s no value, it’s just an unwanted interruption to my day.

By extension, newsletters on the whole have become so common that one blurs with the next. If I’ve tired of reading them, it makes no sense to keep putting them out there myself.

Secondly, I’ve published 279 missives on my chosen topic and have said all I want to say on the subject. If fact, I’ve repeated myself more than I would like. Job done.

Given this reasoning, it’s not surprising that I’ve lost the energy required to keep writing on these matters. Instead, I’ll be using the time to pursue other interests—Angel investing, supporting mental wellness startups, and other non-commercial activities.

Who knows what’s next, but I may write about other areas that intrigue me. If they intrigue you too, I’d be delighted to have you along. If you subscribed to my CEO Newsletter, I’ll keep you posted. If not, sign up anew … and I’ll keep you posted.
